Tips to Prevent Missing Children in Miami

It will never happen to me; child molesting predators hope you will share in this false belief. Many parents don’t wish to think about it but this problem has multiplied exponentially in the last 30 years. Summer breaks in Miami, Florida in particular, are a time to play outside and enjoy the warm weather and longer days. You can’t watch your children all of the time. Ignorance will not protect your child but the good news is that education will.

Advanced Private Investigator & Security of Miami, FL has prepared the following dozen guidelines to prevent child molestation and missing children:
1. Tell your child that if a stranger tries to grab them; yell, kick and scream.
2. Make sure your child knows your phone number, including area code. Be sure your child knows how to use different phone systems should the need arise.
3. Encourage your child to always use the buddy system; particularly if they have siblings. The buddy system is a procedure in which two people, the “buddies”, operate together as a single unit so that they are able to monitor and help each other.
4. Keep updated photos, medical and dental records ready for use in any emergency. In the case of a child abduction, time is of the essence.
5. Teach children to refuse the common tactics that a predator may use to lure them into a car. Tell them not to accept offers of free candy or the opportunity to pet a stranger’s dog.
6. Check with your local law enforcement and online to find out if there are sexual offenders in your neighborhood. Teach your child to stay away from these homes and never to talk to these offenders. Always know who your new neighbors are.
7. Teach your child to always go to a nearby open cashier register or other designated place if they have separated from you or other guardians in a mall, store etc.
9. Be sure to ask your child’s school to notify you immediately if your child has not arrived at school. The school will not do this unless you ask them too.
10. Don’t let your child leave your home in an angry or frustrated state. Communicate with your child; otherwise someone else may do a better job than you, and lure your child away.
11. Organize a safety group in your neighborhood. Meet and talk about various programs that help keep parents informed about child safety, child care, child abductions, and possibly even child custody issues.
12. Know what your child wears every single day but do not put their name on their clothing. When you do this, you are giving your child a false sense of security. When a stranger calls your child by their name, your child may mistakenly think they know them.
