It is all too common with catfishing attempts and people being contacted through phony online dating profiles. 4) The details of the profile’s owner are too good. Large salary, CEO position, tall, dark, handsome, multiple homes in various cities, excessive charity work and other highly attractive traits in excess should set off red flags.
5) Heart wrenching story that indicates sick family members or friends or other sad stories that attempt to garner attention.

How to Find Out if You’re Being Catfished for Free

Conversations that are suspicious and behaviors that indicate a catfish.
1) Scripted or generic first message. Feeling much like they only inserted your name into the greeting. Scammers use such tactics to contact large volumes of dating profiles.
2) The person makes grammatical mistakes that do not fit their claimed spoken language, age, or education level through exchanging messages.
3) Phone number comes through the caller ID from a different from where they claim be located. Additionally, their accent may not match the region that they claim to be from.
4) Refusal and excuses to talk or video chat or even meet in person if they claim to be a local. They disappear for days.
5) They build up a story that puts them in a place of financial trouble. The story continues to have bad luck; like they recently lost a job, they experience a death in their life, recently victimized, and so forth. They try to maintain you feeling sympathy or empathy for them.
6) They drill you for personal information such as full name, address, occupation, and other private information.
7) Their personal stories are inconsistent and constantly change.
8) They claim not to have any social media accounts.
9) They confess strong feelings very early in an online relationship, commonly before even meeting person.
10) They claim to be famous, related to or know famous individuals or royalty.
